Played the Country Club course on Easter Monday in the Prospect Vale Golf Club Open, This is a course I use to be a member of when I lived in the north of the state.

The course measures 6065m from the tips which is what we played on Monday, 5 par 3s, 7 par 4s and 5 par 5s. Greens are in great condition and ran true, The fairways were very lush and never had a bad lie. The tee beds were a bit hard but had a great grass covering overall the condition of the course was great.

One of the things I did like was that the par 4s give you multiple options off the tee, Hazards are placed in landing spots to give you something to think about. Must greens are guarded by bunkers. The par 5s are all of good length (500m + for most of them) with doglegs, fairway bunkers and the well bunkered greens to contend with. The par 3s are challenging and walking away with par on these are well-earned.
My favourite hole was the 477m Par 5 4th with a lake 200m long from the tee on the right with bunkers left with green sloping right and to the front.
This is the only public access course in Launceston and with green fees from $45 for 18 holes it is great value and cart hire available for $40, There is a full stocked golf centre on course and a 250m driving range with under cover bays.
The Prospect Vale Golf Club calls the course home, and offers competitions every Wednesday (women’s) Saturday (mixed) and Sunday, Membership is excellent value at $723 for a full adult member.
This would defiantly be a good option of a stay and play, with the casino offering villas and hotel type accommodation. The country club is only an hour from the Barnbougle golf courses so it makes it a good base for your golfing trip.
